Thulisile Galelekile holds a BCom Honours in Marketing from the University of Natal, a qualification that has seen her match her love for communications and her outspoken yet analytical personality. Her love for imparting knowledge saw her begin her career as a lecturer before choosing more mainstream marketing employment opportunities. Thulisile has successfully ushered into markets new local as well as international brands and built them up to what they are known to be today; brands such as Unilever’s Sunsilk as well as Ithala Bank. A seasoned marketer in putting together activities that strengthen brand’s share position, Thulisile has worked in a diverse range of industries, from FMCG to Telecoms and Financial Services, and has successfully worked her way up from Assistant Brand Manager to Regional Brand Manager as well as Marketing Assistant all the way to Head of Marketing Africa for companies such as Unilever, Ithala, Kraft Foods, Nokia, Foodcorp, Standard Bank and as a General Manager for Marketing Tourism KwaZulu-Natal. She is currently working as the Executive Strategy and Operation for Trade & Investment KwaZulu-Natal. Thulisile continuously sets-out to do things differently, to be at the forefront of developing new ideas designed to better create public awareness of the organization she represents and to market products in a way which sets it apart from the clutter. The Marketing fraternity has recognized Thulisile as an innovator, a woman who is unafraid of the unknown, willing to challenge the status quo and determined to overcome any challenge by decorating her with various accolades. A multiple recipient of the Beyond Excellence Awards firstly from Kraft Food in 2006, Nokia in 2008 and again from the Standard Bank Group in 2013 and has recently been awarded by Trade & Investment KwaZulu-Natal a certificate for Outstanding Performance in the Category of Best Leader. Thulisile has made the industry sit up and take notice that today’s women are a formidable force when it comes to Marketing. This was further solidified by her walking away with the Corporate Category of the Business Women Association Business Achiever Regional Awards. Her drive and fierce determination as well as her ability to work well with people has seen her being appointed as an Acting Executive HR at Ithala Development Finance Corporation Limited. In the year of acting in the role she successfully developed and implemented the employment equity strategy, led the company reorganization and successfully completed wage negotiations and concluded by coordinating the recruitment of the company CEO. Thulisile has held board memberships in Business Women’s Association Durban Chapter, and is currently a non-executive board member of Eerste Flambeau Group and Auspex Group. Thulisile enjoys the outdoors particularly running. One of her favorite pastimes is finding the hidden gems of the KwaZulu- Natal outdoors, landscapes, hiking and running trails and photographing them. She is an avid reader in her spare time when she is not on duty as a proud mother of two boys. She is married and lives in Durban.
